I have to be honest, this outfit is probably one of the least sweatshop friendly outfits I can wear. The sweater is vintage (yes, I see vintage as sweatshop free or at least closing the loop) but the coat and the pants are from WE. Why I would promote something like that? Well, I won an extremely generous giftcard from WE and in the current financial stage I am, this came as a gift straight  from heaven. Ok, I could have refused it but come on we are all human. (I also treated my mom to a shopping spree and it made her so unbelievably thankful it was all worth it.)

As a social influencer (yeah as you know I don’t like the word blogger, and actually I don’t really feel like an influencer) you have to be strong to not fall into all the temptations. I know I can not ever accept collabs with brands produced by some children somewhere and yes ofcourse sometimes that’s frustrating. Blinded by consumerism and social media I myself also approach the wrong brands, and yes this can be from a totally wrong and egoistic motive like the boots I do really want or the jeans I can not afford. And yes money makes the world go round and I can not show you the same sh*t on a different day. And although I’m really happy with this coat and pants, I do feel a bit like a cheater.

And then there are the pressdays, two times a year PR companies show the novelties for next season. This is the perfect opportunity to work on your networking skills, meet your colleges (or mostly friends), be stuffed with amazing food and go home with hands full of goodies. Yes this sounds like the good life and I’ve been amazingly blessed to have the opportunity to take part in this.

This year was different though since I actually decided – before the whole Knack weekend blog nominee thing – to not take part in this anymore. Mostly because of a lot of personal frustrations but also because in my opinion accepting this goodies is purerly for my own personal enjoyment and has less or even nothing to do with this website. Also my ecological footprint always doubles that day since the crappy vs good stuff ratio is like 30-70{1eacffa9ebeab588c36cec3d2da2b32fad3fa4c1e369410f800f367e980bc882}. Luckily I can make a lot of other people happy with some things but most of the stuff ends up in my local second hand store or even the trash. Yes this is kinda harsh maybe but I think it would be way more efficient If you can decide more on what to take and what not. And oh yes, I’m one of those people who already tried to refuse a goodie bag or some part of the content but that was not the way to go either.

This year was different though. I decided to go last minute to see my bae Monica and have some quality time at the Oona social influencers night. But unlike other years I’ve never learned so much about good brands and quality stuff – Ilke Cop, Anita de Groot and Kroot to name a few – but I also was more thankful than ever for all the love (and stuff) I received.  And maybe I’m even most thankful for the two bottles of shampoo I got or the Nutella jar.

So yes I’m changing my own rules. Ofcourse the sweatshop challenge is still going strong (and fun stuff is coming up). But once in a while I’ll allow myself to cheat. Bare with me, I’m only human.
