Investment business.

Invest! It’s advice that’s given very frequently. Invest in a good car, invest in a house, invest in a bag, invest in shoes and so on. Saving your money is kinda pointless these days (if not for having some back up money) since it gains you near to nothing.
I’ve been wondering though if investing is equal to spending a lot of money. I feel like it became an excuse to spend exuberant amounts of money on quite useless things, but hey ‘they are an investment’. For example: I never had a connection with the Chanel bag craze. I don’t seem to get the fuzz around it because in my opinion the leather looks quite shitty for the amount of money you have to put down for it. But hey then again it’s Chanel right?

Investing is only useful if quality is the number one priority (or in Chanel’s case: you want it so badly that you will use it your whole life). If gaining money is your goal, you’ll probably always lose. Like houses, Chanel bags become more expensive every year. Off course all of this is based on the idea that their value increases. Nevertheless all this is based on speculation and like the housing market, I’m a strong believer that also the Chanel market can crash one day. Or maybe not, who knows.

For me, investing is quality and not an amount of money. A vintage leather skirt in perfect condition for 1 euro? Also investing. And your return will be huge. In case of the Furla bag, it’s probably the ‘cheapest’ designer bag you can get and far from exclusive. And that’s just how I like it. I love the quality of the leather and for that amount of money you can pick that crazy colour you always wanted. And although this bag was probably really cheap to bag-standard. I still had difficulties with going for it since it still would be a lot for a bag you never use. Thank god i’ve worn it daily since.

My advice? Give your sale buy or vintage find also a chance to be an investment. Actually, everything that makes you really happy in the long run can count for it. Don’t be tricked by this general idea that you have to spend all your savings on something crazy if you are not feeling it.
