Off the grid.
It’s a well known topic already over here but after I was mentioned by The Culture Trip as one of the 7 Belgian lifestyle bloggers to follow and my ‘off-the-gridness’ was stated, I find it appropriate to mention it again.
We are all constantly connected, living in this vertex of FOMO. We can hold the world in our hands and constantly want to follow up on everything.
Someone once decided that being a blogger means partaking in that phenomenon. No regular posting on any channel and your death. That’s pretty comforting. I don’t like to call myself a blogger because I don’t partake in this. Although in try to keep my instagram alive quite regularly, this already feels like a burden sometimes. I’m an architect and sadly that’s a world with a minimum of glamour so no bumping into perfect flatlays for me. And yes I need to work full time in order to survive. No privileges over here or 2000 euro instagram posts. Everything comes from me, and me only. This implies that I can have an off day, off week or off month.
Nevertheless I do reserve myself the right to drop off the grid once in a while, everyone should. No one is made to be constantly on a roll and I just don’t believe anyone that pretends to be. At a time where even Kim K takes a break (in my case probably in a less dramatic quantity), my life is a continuous loop of being on a roll one minute, followed by a break another. And this learns you who your real people are and who’s just there to watch you burn.
This is my space on the web and I use it in a way that suits me. Apparently it works a little, and everyday that astonishes me more. But it also confirms that not being on that grid constantly is perfectly allowed. So enjoy it, and don’t forget that real life is out there somewhere.
P.S. I’m wearing all vintage (fist bumps the mirror)
