Tricolor roots.
Honest Fashion
I still remember it clearly, these rare days Belgium had a reason to be nationalist and so we wanted to dress up in red-yellow and black. Fashion was an interest those days, sadly taste hadn’t arrived yet. I tried every combination possible: Yellow pants with a red shirt an black shoes, red pants with a black shirt and yellow sweater and so on. The older I got, the more I realised that this was a colorcombo made to fail so I stayed safe with just black pants and a red shirt (and an imaginary touch of yellow).
Since we finally have some decent football players, the reasons to dress up became more common. I soon realised that there was really no point in going for a fashionable tricolor outfit when supporting your national team. I opted for a red devil shirt and done.
Now, living in the Netherlands, I find myself chuckling by every opportunity I get to make this color combination. Mostly it’s quite subtle (It’s no coincidence in the Antwerp shirt-case I suppose) but it works like a charm.
This combination happened quite unconsciously. The bag I really loved for the color (and the irresistible price), black is my basic go to and the shoes where a splurge when I first discovered what it was to have a monthly pay (that naive excitement sadly disappeared already). Together with my beloved Antwerp-wannabe-trasher-shirt this must be my favourite outfit. Ever.
Oh and don’t forget about the self DIY’ed Levi’s with a more elegant touch. Yay!
